Application Criteria
The process was designed by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. Our criteria is simple. You do not need to be an Activator to apply to be a Venture, and we are agnostic about age or sector or structure.
- Company must be working on creating a better world through their business model and/or product and service as defined by the UN Sustainability Goals.
- Majority owned (51%+) by cis* or trans woman, non-binary, gender-fluid or gender nonconforming people.
- Majority led by a cis* or trans woman, non-binary, gender-fluid or gender non-conforming person. For Coralus (formerly SheEO), “led by” refers to the senior leadership role of CEO/ President.
- You have generated between $50K – $2M in Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the USA, or £40K - £2M in the United Kingdom, in recurring revenue, from customers, in the last 12 months. If you are a not-for-profit or charity that generates revenue and can pay back a loan over 5 years, then you can apply.
- Your Venture is registered as a legal entity in the region for which you are applying and has export potential.
*Cis refers to someone whose gender corresponds to their assigned sex.
Application Process
Our application process is straightforward.
The Coralus(formerly SheEO) Venture Application is designed by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. It gets to the heart of what is needed for Activators to make a decision.
ROUND 1 APPLICATION
Key Questions
The focus of the application are key questions about your model and the impact you are creating. Also be clear about your revenue model in answering the questions.
- Describe Your Venture. (200 word limit)
- What is your Venture’s vision? (150 word limit)
- Why you? Why now? Why are you the person to solve the problem your Venture is addressing? Why is now the right time? (200 word limit)
- Name up to two (2) UN sustainable Goal(s) you are working on. How are you working on the goal? How are you measuring impact? (250 word limit)
- What is your current business model? How do you currently make money?
- Outside of customer revenue, how much money have you raised/received from other sources?
- How do you plan on reaching your vision? (100 word limit)
- How would being a Coralus (formerly SheEO) Venture help you get closer to your vision? (150 word limit)
- Tell us about your team. How do you define roles and responsibilities? Current number of full time employees? Current number of part-time employees/contractors on your team? (200 word limit)
Your Venture is Shared with Hundreds of Activators + You Receive Feedback As an applicant, your company is introduced to Activators from around your region. All applicants receive feedback and are able to submit an Ask to the Coralus (formerly SheEO) Community.
An Ask can be anything the Venture needs in that moment to support their business (e.g. I need advice on my marketing strategy because I will be launching a brand new product line). Many founders find the feedback at this stage very useful, and get connections that accelerate their organization.
ROUND 2 APPLICATION
Semi-finalists advance to the second round of applications where all of your Venture’s Financials are validated. Key components of this round:

RETREAT + ANNOUNCEMENT
If you are selected, you will attend a
retreat and announcement.
Retreat
Ventures arrive not knowing each other but soon start exchanging their stories, sharing their biggest worries, and opening their businesses to each other for support and help. Facilitated by world-class Development Guides and in the spirit of radical generosity, Ventures share resources, give advice, and listen deeply.
We know that being an entrepreneur is a hard and lonely road. By creating a safe space to share and with the support of coaches and each other, Ventures leave the retreat with a foundation that sets them up for long-term success – both personally and in their business.

You also attend the Announcement and various events depending on the Country, a time to share you Venture, your ask(s) + connect into the community.

A Bit about Coralus + the Model
Who we are
Coralus is a global community of radically generous women + non-binary folks supporting Ventures working on the World’s To Do List (the UN Sustainability Goals).
We are committed to building a highly diverse global community of women-identifying entrepreneurs of all ages, races and cultures. Our long-term strategy is to build new pathways for allocating capital, one that results in the best possible outcomes for all, transcending the current winner takes-all mindset.
We currently operate in 5 regions: Canada, US, New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.
How the Model Works
Our model brings together hundreds of radically generous women called Activators who contribute $1100 each (or twelve monthly payments of $92) for Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA; or £850 (or twelve monthly payments of £71) for the UK. That money is pooled and then loaned out in the form of 0%-interest 5 year loans to women-led Ventures whom the Activators help select. As the money is paid back into the fund, it’s loaned out again to support more women-led Ventures each year.
How is Coralus Unique?
- 0% Interest five-year loan: Reflecting our value of radical generosity, Ventures receive a 0% interest five-year loan that is paid by in 20 quarterly installments.
- A Year of Support from a Development Guide: Our Coralus Development Guides are women with deep experience as entrepreneurs themselves. Unlike most coaching programs that are designed by-men-for-men and only focus on the business, our coaches understand the competing priorities and complexities in your lives. They are experts when it comes to knowing how to help you figure out ways to integrate your various worlds. They don’t just “get” that things like childcare, eldercare or self-confidence issues might get in the way, they’d be surprised if they didn’t. As a funded Venture, you meet with your Guide twice a month during the first year for help with individual, team and business issues, such as identifying priorities, developing business strategy, and better understand and develop your team, thinking talents, and communication style. Many Ventures find it so useful that they continue to work with their Guides for several years.
- Access To A Network Of Thousands Of Smart, Generous & Connected Women: Through our Ask + Give app and online community, we give Ventures access to the large and rich Coralus network of diverse and passionate supporters and have them navigate their own path. As Ventures reach out and women in the network respond, Ventures select who is the best fit to help them. Through this self-serve approach, Ventures find and create a team of advisors, mentors and supporters who are perfectly suited for them. Unlike many advisors and experts who think they know the answer and share what worked for them – which may or may not work for the person they’re talking to – we believe that there is often no “right” answer, no “right way” of doing something. We each have our own path. We know that getting to a new world is not necessarily going to happen by following what has worked in the past. We’ve designed things differently: we’re committed to helping you have strong social and financial returns and pioneering new business models and mindsets.
Financial support with a 0% interest loan; you set the milestones, goals + the highest use of the funds. As you pay back the loan, the money is paid forward to new Ventures.
You’ll receive coaching with world-class Coralus Development Guides + access to a global community of women who support you as customers, advisors, connectors + become your biggest fans.

Who Selects the Ventures?
Rather than rely on a handful of “experts,” we rely on the intuition of Activators in your region to know what they want and what the world needs.
Activators in your region select Ventures with the following in mind:
- Does the entrepreneur’s story and business excite you so much that you would buy or recommend this product or service?
- Does the business look like it has growth potential and can leverage our growing network?
- Are they creating a better world through how they do business or through their product/service?
- Please keep diversity in mind. It’s a core principle for us at Coralus.
