New Zealand

  • Atutahi‘s use of Aotearoa New Zealand native leaf (Horopito, Kumarahou, and Kawakawa) was highlighted in a story from IFT about the importance of bringing together Indigenous knowledge and Western science in product development.
  • Reni Wereta-Gargiulo of Atutahi won the Supreme Award at the 2022 Māori Businesswomen’s Awards. “I’m feeling absolutely ecstatic … I’m feeling very appreciated, if you know what I mean. Appreciated by our people”.
  • AWWA was mentioned alongside Canadian venture Aisle among nine alternatives to sustainably manage through the tampon shortage.
  • Chia Sisters co-founder Florence Van Dyke wrote in an op-ed that sustainable businesses are the ones that will come out on top. “If we can become global leaders in sustainable business, we can reverse the brain drain, attract investment and lift our economy,” she said.
  • Kiri Nathan collaborated with law student Malina Grube to redesign the traditional graduation gown. “Working with Kiri Nathan was pretty surreal considering all the big projects she has worked on before and made me feel really special to know that she had designed my kākahu together with students and my story in mind,” Grube said.
  • Supie has extended its capital raise to Aug. 6 due to significant interest over the past week. “We have been overwhelmed with how many Kiwis are investing to support Supie and we are excited to welcome you as shareholders!” the company shared. Supie has surpassed its initial goal of $3 million, raising more than $3.3 million already.
