- Code Like a Girl was featured in a list of Four Australian startups that have raised almost $7 million this week.
Canada
- Patrice Mousseau of Satya Organic will be a featured speaker at this year’s Strike Up Canada conference on March 2nd.
- Jodi Huettner and her journey to found Helga Wear, a company specializing in women’s PPE, was featured in a piece by the Tyee.
- Teara Fraser of Iskwew Air received more media coverage following her launch of Elibird Aero – the first in Canada to have zero emission aircraft as training units.
- Teara was also recognized as one of the recipients of a 2022 BC CEO Award in the SME category. Six B.C. business leaders were recognized by BIV with C-Suite Awards on Feb. 3.
- Magnusmode was featured in Trendwatching’s “Innovation of the day” for its partnership with US bank Huntington on a set of cards that show neurodiverse users how to perform banking tasks.
- Chenny Xia and Gotcare were featured in a video by the Telus Pollinator Fund for their work to help vulnerable Canadians across the country access home healthcare services while ensuring frontline care workers receive a living wage.
New Zealand
- Kiri Nathan was mentioned in a piece discussing Jacinda Ardern’s power of dress to develop a visual signature through imagery.
- Supie says it has lowered its grocery prices across its 7000-strong range of goods to undercut the big players, Pak ‘n Save, New World and Countdown.
- AuOra has teamed up with the Chia Sisters to develop a kawakawa-based functional beverage, with co-funding from the government’s High Value Nutrition National Science Challenge.
- Better Packaging Co. wrote a blog post about saying goodbye to the word “sustainability” because it is simply not enough.
United Kingdom
- The UK government has revealed a deposit return scheme will not start until at least October 2025, and will not include glass. The announcement received coverage from The Grocer and Yahoo, and included quotes from City to Sea policy manager Steve Hynd.
- Clothes Doctor has secured £1M in the latest funding round led by the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Investment Fund (CIOSIF). They will use the capital to fuel its business growth and accelerate international expansion.
- Aoise Keogan Nooshabadi of Supply Change was honoured as an Innovate UK Young Innovator Awardee, receiving both financial and non-financial support from the Innovate UK KTN team.
United States
- Terri-Nichelle Bradley of Brown Toy Box spoke about the need to lower barriers to accessing capital and how Community Development Financial Institutions are essential for women- and Black-owned businesses like hers.
